Lettuce Know Privacy Policy

Lettuce Know is a shopping list app that uses Apple Intelligence on your device to sort your groceries by aisle. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how it is handled.

Summary

AI runs entirely on your device. Your grocery items, list contents, and anything Lettuce Know's smart features process are never sent to any server for AI purposes. All AI processing happens locally on your iPhone or iPad using Apple's Foundation Models framework.
We do collect some data to give you an account and to sync your list across your devices and household members. That data is limited to your email address and the contents of your shopping list, and we describe exactly what below.
We do not use analytics, advertising, or tracking. We do not sell or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.

What We Collect And Why

Account Information

When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive:

Your email address - used to identify your account and to let other household members invite you to share a list.
A user identifier issued by the sign-in provider - used to keep you signed in across launches.

If you sign in with Apple, you may also choose to share your name. If you choose to hide your email, Apple gives us a private relay address instead of your real one.

Shopping List Content

To sync your list across your devices and with people in your household, we store the following on our backend:

The items on your list, including name, quantity, aisle, and completion state.
Your stores and the aisles you have configured for them.
Your household membership, so the right people see the right list.

This data is stored only to make the app work. It is not shared with advertisers, used to build a profile of you, or accessed by anyone except you and the members of your household.

What We Do Not Collect

We do not collect analytics, usage telemetry, crash reports linked to you, or device identifiers for tracking.
We do not collect your location, contacts, photos, or any data outside what you type into the app and the email address tied to your account.
We never send the contents of your list to any AI or machine learning service. Smart Sort runs on your device using Apple's on-device foundation model.

Who Handles Your Data

We rely on a small number of service providers to operate the app:

Apple - provides Sign in with Apple. Apple's privacy policy applies to that flow. See apple.com/legal/privacy.
Google - provides the optional Sign in with Google flow. Google's privacy policy applies to that flow. See policies.google.com/privacy.
Supabase - hosts our backend database and handles real-time sync. Supabase processes the account and list data described above on our behalf. See supabase.com/privacy.

These are processors, not partners. They handle data so the app can function; they do not use your data for their own purposes.

How Long We Keep Your Data

We keep your account and list data for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, the account row and all of your list data are removed from our backend.

Your Choices

Deleting Your Account

You can delete your account at any time from inside the app:

Settings -> Account -> Delete Account

This permanently removes your account and all of your list data from our backend. Other members of your household keep their access to the household's shared list; only your personal account and the data tied to it are removed.

Signing Out

Settings -> Account -> Sign Out ends your session on the device without deleting your account.

Accessing Your Data

Because the entire list is visible in the app, you can see everything we hold about you at any time. If you want a copy in another format, contact us at the email below.

Children

Lettuce Know is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has signed in, contact us and we will remove the account.

Changes To This Policy

If we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this policy and, when appropriate, notify you in the app or via the email on file.
